Why What You Eat Effects your Mental Health

With the extreme hustle and bustle of life, we have allowed ourselves to become a "result of convenience". Our lifestyles have become so busy, that we have entrusted our health with easy to grab & go fast and processed frozen foods.

But what does that offer our emotional health? Our brain is on 24/7 it controls our thoughts, movements, breathing, senses and even our heart beat. So Why does what we eat matter? . . . it matters because 95% of serotonin (a neurotransmitter) is produced in our gastrointestinal tract (gut). Serotonin helps to regulate our sleep, appetite, moods, cognitive thoughts, behavior and even assists in pain relief. Our gut is lined with over 100 million nerve cells (neurons) that are influenced by "good bacteria".

Creating "Good Bacteria" comes from eating a healthy well balanced food source such as, lean proteins, nuts, seeds, berries, vegetables, herbs and even active probiotic supplements, Vs the convenience foods that disrupt the healthy gut flora with toxins, chemicals, harmful fillers and sugar that create an inflamed unbalanced breading ground for symptomatic issues and poor mental health.

Healthy fresh food options offer our insides energy, support, prevention, mood stability, self control, and a high functioning inner communication system. Where as eating toxic food and beverage choices offer us a sluggish, moody, bloated, achy and disruptive sleep pattern lifestyle.

Studies have shown adding active digestive probiotics into a well balanced diet will improve mental outlook, lower stress levels, subdue anxious behavior and support the body in full peak performance levels.

Choosing foods rich with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals are key to well balanced emotional and physical living.
